Custom-built tool
A custom-built tool helps with one defined task. For example, a calculator can work something out from the information you enter, or a product selector can help find a suitable option.
Tool design and development
I design and build custom tools, small software and focused automations for solo entrepreneurs, small businesses and company teams.
Ways to build
A custom-built tool helps with one defined task. For example, a calculator can work something out from the information you enter, or a product selector can help find a suitable option.
A small software application brings together several functions for one task. For example, in a planning app, a user can make choices step by step, see the result take shape and save the plan for later.
A focused automation handles a recurring step according to an agreed rule. For example, when a customer submits a contact form, the details can be added to a spreadsheet and the person responsible can be notified, without copying information by hand.
Who it's for
If an off-the-shelf package does not fit the way you work, I can design and build a solution around your or your team's workflow.
How the work proceeds
In 30 minutes, we'll discuss your goals, users and current way of working.
You'll receive a suggested approach and a quote outlining the scope, schedule, price and any ongoing costs. We'll also agree what we need from you to build it.
I'll build the agreed solution. We'll review it at agreed points so you can give feedback before handover.
The solution is put into use as agreed. Any ongoing maintenance follows the option in the quote.
The quote will specify the number of feedback rounds and the price for any additional work.
Practical examples
The first example is an anonymised client project. The other two are tools I built for my own use.
The software used by a small Finnish company no longer met its online store needs. With a colleague, I built a prototype that lets customers add images and text to a product, position them and review the design on a phone too.
The company approved the prototype for further development. We are now building a version to connect to its website and ordering process. Effects on working time, sales or customer experience have not yet been measured.
Daily Command Center brings tasks together in its Today and Ahead views. Today helps plan the current day, while Ahead shows tasks and deadlines for the next 14 days. The views help you see workload, preparation needs and task order. You can also add tasks and notes to the tool.
I've built n8n workflows for Daily Command Center that retrieve information from different sources and pass it on automatically.
I use this tool to plan my own trips. It keeps measured weather and water data separate from the AI-generated summary and suggestion, so source information and interpretation stay distinct.
